Utilizing bioinformatics to identify human diseases

Nancy Sharma

Abstract

Human sickness is an alteration to a person's normal state that interferes with or changes vital functioning. Before discussing human sickness, it is important to understand what is meant by the phrases “health,” “physical fitness,” “illness,” and “disease.” Theoretically, health may be described in terms of specific measured values; for instance, a person with normal body temperature, pulse and breathing rates, blood pressure, height, and weight, as well as sharpness of vision and sensitivity of hearing, might be referred to as healthy. Several bioinformatics techniques that enrich for the most likely candidate disease genes have been developed in the recent years. By completing datasets, creating standardised concepts across databases and species, and finally integrating various tactics, these in silico prioritisation methods may become even more effective.
