CRP in Different Diseases

Priyanka Verma

Abstract

CRP also known as C reactive protein which is produced by liver hepatocytes. CRP test is done to check inflammation level during infection. CRP levels help to determine heart disease, high blood pressure and other diseases. It is found elevated in diseases like blood pressure, in females having birth control pills, bacterial as well as metabolic inflammation. CRP levels are also found increased with age, pregnancy, mild and viral infections as well as in cases of burns, obesity, obstructive sleep apnea, rheumatoid arthritis, gum diseases, Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), cancer, pneumonia, vision loss. Minor increase was also seen in cases of scleroderma, polymyositis, and dermatomyositis. So, it can be said that CRP is one of the important indicator for the diagnosis of certain diseases.
