Synthesis and Surface Studies of ZnS/PVK Nanocomposites

Durgesh Nandini Nagwanshi, Ruchi Nigam

Abstract

ZnS/PVK nanocomposites have been successfully prepared by chemical method. The optical and electrical properties of nanomaterials can be controlled by their particle size and therefore attracted much interest for their fundamental and applied aspects. The sizes of the particles were varied with different ZnS concentrations. The XRD pattern showed that the ZnS nanoparticles have zinc-blend structure and line broadening suggests the formation of the amorphous compound. The observations show that broadening of peaks tends to increase with decreasing ZnS concentration which shows a decrease in particle size. The size of the crystal is found to be in the order of 3-10 nm. The AFM and SEM studies suggest that the clusters of particles are in the range of a few tens of nm. The results from XRD, SEM, and AFM studies it confirm the increase in particle size, by increasing the ZnS concentration in PVK.
