Vortex Tube Refrigeration System under Different Working Parameters: A Study

D. K. Joshi

Abstract

Abstract

The vortex tube is a small, likable, and marvelous mechanical device used as refrigeration machine. Vortex tube is a device having no moving parts that separates the high pressure stream flow into two streams namely hot and cold at defined pressure. At the separation of two streams, one stream rejects the heat and becomes colder while the other receives the rejected heat and becomes hotter as compared to previous one. As there are no moving parts, maintenance required is also less which had made vortex tube reasonably priced. It has wide applications in industrial area for cooling purpose of tools, in electrical industries, CCTV, etc. Performance valuation of vortex tube is carried out by varying important parameters like cross section area of hot and cold end, nozzle area of inlet compressed air, cold orifice area, and hot end area of the tube L/D ratio and COP.
