Abstract

This paper presents the performance comparison of new eco-friendly refrigerants in domestic refrigerator with respect to energy and exergetic analysis. To make an alternative arrangement of R12 or R134a, and for comparing the performance of new refrigerants some factors and technologies are important which is required to be considered likes their thermodynamics properties, GWP, ODP, energy and exergy analysis, TEWI analysis. In the ongoing work many experimental investigations were made for finding a better alternative to replace the refrigerant R12 or R134a for making an environment friendly refrigerant. Here, discussed about the history and recent technologies which are useful to find the performance of domestic refrigerator. For refrigeration system, the energy analysis involves the calculation of refrigerating effect, compression work and coefficient of performance (COP) while the exergetic analysis involve calculation of exergy destruction for each component (i.e., compressor, condenser, expansion valve and evaporator), exergetic efficiency, Exergy destruction ratio and efficiency defects. It has concluded that there are two important factors on which required to future workout via. i) to improve the performance of refrigeration system both energy and exergy analysis is necessary and ii) to alter the R134a due its high GWP about1430 according to the Kyoto Protocol with a new eco-friendly refrigerant. In this research paper, on the basis literature survey it was conclude that the new refrigerants such as R1234yf, R410a,R1234ze,R152a, R290, R600a and some azeotropic mixtures are usually used to find a suitable replacement for R12 and R134a.
