Growth of Remote Sensing and GIS in India

Abstract

This study investigates the growth of Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) research publications in India during the period 1991–2014. The source used is the Web of Science (WoS) database. All items provided by WoS have been taken into account in the analysis (journal papers, conference proceedings, etc.). This study finds out that RS and GIS both have experienced notable growth in the past few years, the qualitative parameters of this growth are depicted in this paper along with the quantitative factors analyzed through bibliometric tools and techniques.
