Inverse Heat Transfer Analysis Applied to Heat Treatment Process

Direct measurement of heat flux at the surface of a surface subjected to extreme heat using conventional or traditional methods is an inexpedient task; but it can be estimated by an inverse analysis utilizing transient temperature recordings taken at specific location beneath the heated surface. The problem on Inverse Heat Transfer (IHT) depends upon the heat flux and various temperature measurements for the approximation of variable quantities appearing in the analysis of physical problems in thermal engineering. The heat flux obtained by the calculation are used for the heat recovery process which signifies that heat flux is used for the preheating of steel which is necessary for reduction of distortion, elimination of crack, prevention of shrinkage and other losses in the steel industry. So, it becomes necessary that preheating for the purpose of calculations, a common preheating temperature of 480°C is taken and calculations are done as per volume of steel which can be preheated up to 480°C from a room temperature of 30°C.
