Bladeless Offshore Wind Turbines
Abstract
The goal of this paper is to define the structural characteristics of a vertical single-blade wind turbine operating under oscillatory movement due to the wave motion and vibrational forces provided by the wind to the assembly. This new type of turbine can change the current landscape of wind energy. They can expand the generated self-consumption produced by wind energy, which is currently low, and take advantage of the free space that conventional wind turbines leave in offshore wind farms by using marine wave vibrations. This turbine uses different wind vibration types, such as vortex-induced vibrations, damped vibrations, forced harmonic vibrations, or vibrations in cantilever beams, to achieve a correct operation mode. The system uses an assembled magnet-coil alternator to transform this mechanical energy in the form of vibrations into electric current, inducing an electromotive force that is generated by the relative movement of the magnet with respect to the coil, varying the magnetic flux that crosses the coil and producing a potential difference.References
