Fatigue Design of Anode Supports on Offshore Structures
Abstract
This paper addresses the fatigue analyses results for external and internal anodes’ attachments on the offshore structures using finite element analysis, where a simplified empirical formula is also recommended. For anodes that may become subject to significant forces during installation and operation, the design of anode fastening devices shall be addressed in early design stage. Doubler and/or gusset plates may be required for large anodes. The anode steel should be welded to doublings plates (pad) to avoid welding on the main plate in case of replacing of anodes. Anodes should be welded to structural elements with low stress level. Further anodes in tanks should preferably be welded to the web plate of transverse members.
