Strengthening Infrastructure Projects Sustainability through Modified Quality Conformance Alternative

Wilson Udo Udofia

Abstract

Across the length and breadth of the society, infrastructure project is considered as major in the sustainability of the living standard of the people withina concentrated area covered by the government goodwill, yet these lofty objectives frequently “rock” few months or year after inauguration of such project. Government most often are good in initiating viable projects, but the machinery to monitor the usage and functionality of these projects usually short-lived due to inadequate attention after commissioning. This paper is aimed at examining measures that will strengthen infrastructure projects sustainability through a modified quality conformance alternative. To achieve this objective, this paper X-rayed the current status of the infrastructure projects. It further posited conformance to quality through the maintenance management, risk management strategies, tools, equipment and methodology and commitment to quality as measures to strengthen the infrastructure sustainability. This paper shall be of great significance to government, private sector, donor agencies funding projects, contractors, stakeholders in infrastructure project management and as well as the general public on how to adequately maintain projects in line with the approved international standards.
