A MODEL TO PREDICT ANGULAR PHASE SHIFT BETWEEN WIND AND WAVES FOR FLOATING OFFSHORE WIND TURBINE APPLICATIONS
Abstract
This paper develops a model to predict angular phase shift between wind and waves that can be applied to floating offshore wind turbines. A theoretical simulation, developed in MATLAB program, has been run using non-linear effects that have led to specific algorithms based on matrix development of wind and waves direction. The modelling uses a random generator to create the wind and wave direction on the basis that the angular phase shift cannot exceed a setup value. The simulation predicts the performance on an hourly base and applies a correction factor that depends of meteorological conditions to increase accuracy in the prediction. The simulation results have been compared to real data showing very good agreement.
