Abstract

The present work studies the effect on the growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae NCIM 3558
when copper sulphate pentahydrate is complexed with a preferred amino acid of S.cerevisiae
NCIM. The study showed the fact that not only the amino acid or ligand but also the metal ion
involved is an important factor for the biological effects of ligand–metal complexes effects on
yeast metabolism per se. Studies are elaborated extensively.
Keywords: Saccharomyces cerevisiae, glutamine copper, antagonist, glucose metabolism
