Comprehensive Review of Salacia Chinensis: Phytochemical Constituents and Therapeutic Mechanisms

Abstract


Salacia chinensis is a small to medium sized perennial woody plant being used as the Chinese traditional medicine for the treatment of various disorders such as diabetes, hyperlipidaemia, obesity, atherosclerosis. Each part of the plant is filled with the medicinal properties and various chemical constituents. This review article gives the health benefits and the essential chemical constituents present in the whole plant parts responsible for their medicinal property
