The Use of Allelopathic Extracts of the Resedues of Ceratophyllum demersum L. and Cuscuta trifolii Bab L. as Biocides for Some Jungles Associated with the Growth of Triticuma estivum L. in the Fields of Najaf Governorate

Hameeda Abd Noor Abbood, Zainab Abd Ameer Mohammed, Furqan Saddam Salman

This study was conducted to assess the inhibitory activity of the plants Ceratophyllum demersum L.. and Cuscutatrifolii Bab L. and Cyperus rotundus L. Water and alkhol extracts on germination and growth of Medicago hispida L., Sonchus oleraceus L . Seeds of the test plants were grown in Petridishes water-alkehol extracts at concentrations of )0%, 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%(.Plant extracts showed a significant reduction of germination percentage, velocity coefficient of germination, shoots and roots length and their dry weight, of all test species; principally on the increased concentration till 100%; however, at low concentrations shoots length, shoots and roots dry weight in Raphanus raphanistrum L.   coefficient velocity of germination, shoots length in Medicago hispida L., shoots length in Sonchus oleraceus L. were   markedly stimulated.
