Taxonomic Studies of the Asteraceae (Composite) Family

Abstract


Taxonomic investigation of the Asteraceae family was carried out in whole campus of the banasthali vidyapith. A total of the few genera was identified under the composite family. A brief description of the family was given, with their local names, taxonomicdescription, and their Ethnobotanical investigation. Some of the most common species which are enlisted follows as: Ageratum, vernonoia, Eclipta, Blumea, Tridex, Xanthium. Majority of the members are annual herbs, theygrow in abundance during the rainy season, in winters several the species of the Asteraceae. Many of the species grown as ornamentals in the several pattern of ornamentation. Many of the species are used in the food, fibers. some are toxic weeds as Launea grows in the field of the wheat, during the winters. Asteraceae is considered as the one of the most widely distributed family after the grasses, orchids. A few the genera grow in the tropical as well as the subtropical and temperate region of the world. Some of the genera are of the great Economic Values like sunflower produces the world best quality of the oil for peoples.
