The Use of Infrared Spectroscopy in the Medicine

Michael Shoikhedbrod

Abstract

Infrared spectroscopy is a valuable analytical method that is used to study the structure of organic molecules, inorganic and coordination, as well as macromolecular compounds. The ability to obtain information about the presence of certain functional groups in a sample allows the use of medical infrared spectroscopy as a tool for studying tissue biochemistry, which means for diagnosing inflammatory processes in the human body, and for conducting of physicochemical studies of the reasons of these inflammations in order to treat them. Along with the description of existing infrared spectroscopy studies of the structure of organic molecules, inorganic and coordination, as well macromolecular compounds and certain functional groups in a sample the paper presents a new developed device that combines an IR spectrophotometer and a programmable logic controller (PLC) for oncological diagnostics, the essence of the operation of this device is to establish an accurate diagnosis using the “Spectrum” program downloaded into logic controller RAM, processing by this program data infrared spectrophotometer and establishing an accurate diagnosis and prints the results of the diagnosis, as well recommendations for the prevention and selection of optimal treatment methods for the disease on the controller screen.
