Adsorption Isotherms for the Removal of Heavy Metals from Aqueous Solution Using Groundnut Shell and Rice Husk

Heavy metals are considered as hazardous to the environment due to their toxicity even at low concentration. Batch experiments were conducted to know the potentiality of agricultural byproducts (Groundnut shell, Rice husk and combined adsorbents) on removal of heavy metal ions. It has been found that the percentage of adsorption increases with increase in pH and decreases with the increase in metal ions concentration. The obtained results showed that the adsorption of heavy metals by Rice husk and Groundnut shell were best fitted in Langmuir isotherm than Freundlich isothermDownloads
