Abstract

The following paper consists of extensive thermal analysis of the performance of Shell and tube heat exchanger under various configurations. To serve the purpose a simplified model of shell and tube heat exchanger has been designed using kern’s method to cool the water from 55°C to 45°C by using water around room temperature. Then we have extrapolated the performance analysis using the EES (Engineering Equation Solver) software to simulate the working of actual heat exchanger. Everything done in this paper is to distinguish the heat exchanger based on the task in hand. Moreover we have performed analysis on three different type of configuration of a shell and tube heat exchanger which gives us further in depth analysis. All these observations along with their discussions have been discussed in detail inside the paper
