Comparison of ground-based and satellite retrievals of Total column ozone at Visakhapatnam-India

Abstract

This work represents a comparison study of total column ozone data from the ground-based Microtops-II spectrophotometer and the overpass data from satellite instrument EPTOMS/OMI in Visakhapatnam-India (Lat.17o 421N, Long 83o 141E) for the year 2005-2008. The result indicated that data obtained with ozonometer and OMI instrument are found to be in close agreement with each other, and overall correlation coefficient between these two datasets is 0.93, which is significant at 0.001 level.
