Types of Offshore Wind Turbine Foundation & Loads Consideration : Review
Abstract
The energy is the most essential part of our system. But, the conventional type of energy is limited in nature therefore the non-conventional energy also known as renewable energy is gaining scope. The offshore wind energy is one of the most important types of renewable energy. For the foundation of offshore wind turbines, seabed condition is extreme and the environmental conditions are also extreme for the super structure and sub structure. This review paper highlights the different types of foundation structures of the offshore wind turbine for various depths and conditions. Also the suitability, their advantages and disadvantages are discussed. The foundation structure is the main constrain in the offshore wind turbine as it cost almost 30% of the total cost of construction. Therefore it is most important to choose and design the foundation very carefully.
