Evaluation of Prothrombin Time (PT) and Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) Reagents on ECL 760 Coagulation Analyzer

Shivadas Pokkalath, Omkar Kadhane

Abstract

Prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) are two essential coagulation screening tests in various critical disorders including cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Due to its criticality, accurate assessment of both the parameters are essential and fully automated coagulation analyzers like Erba ECL 760 can be of instrument of choice in this situation. The plasma collected from sodium citrated whole blood is preferred sample for coagulation analysis on fully automated Erba ECL 760. Accuracy, precision and carry over were key quality indicators used for quality check of the instrument and the assay. The L-J charts have been prepared with the available data and results have been analyzed. Wide scope of coagulation tests, ease of procedure, high accuracy and precision, comprehensive presentation of quality control data on the LJ graph, faster 60 samples per hour throughput and random test analysis made ECL 760 as a choice of instrument for coagulation testing requirements.
