Fabrication of Ultrathin Sodium Intercalated Graphene Films for Optoelectronics Applications

Gurwinder Pal Singh

Abstract

Modulating optoelectronic properties of thin film is in great demand due to their high potential application in LED’s, flexible displays, transparent electrodes and solar cell. At current scenario researchers and scientists are trying to develop new types of material for preparation of highly transparent and conductive thin film for optoelectronic application. Graphene is a two dimensional (2D) material that having unique mechanical, electrical, thermal and optical properties. Many techniques have been used in the past decades for the preparation of graphene thin film. But due to the stacking of graphene sheets the transparency is decreased. In the present study, have describe a modest method for the preparation of graphene thin film. This technique is simple, facile, low cost and an effective way to prepare ultrathin free standing graphene thin film. Carboxylation process are used to functionalize the graphene. The functionalized graphene has been dispersed in the distilled water (DI) and sodium ions are intercalate between the graphene sheets by using ultrasonication process. Graphene thin film is prepared by using vacuum filtration method. The functional group on graphene after carboxylation is investigated by using FTIR. Thin film is characterize by using UV-Visible, Raman, FESEM and IV characterization. Sodium ions intercalated graphene thin film show high transparency and conductivity as compare to graphene thin film without affecting the defect present in the graphene.
