Effect of Minimum Quantity Lubrication on temperature dissipation in machining of AISI 4130

Roshan Lal Virdi

Abstract

Abstract: Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) has good cooling effects and is gaining importance due to environment friendly machining. MQL proving to be an alternative to flood cooling besides it reduces the cost. The present study is based on MQL parameters performance on temperature of grinding zone. Experiment results were compared of three different vegetable oils. It was found out if with controlled grinding environment MQL can be at par with flood grinding. Due to toxicity of the lubricants vegetable based MQL lubrication not only protect the environment but also reduce the workers health problems.
